Let’s read for Dr. Seuss’ birthday March 3

Dr, Seuss

Please join us and second-graders from nearby Beverly Cleary elementary school, Tuesday, March 3, to celebrate the birthday of popular children’s author Dr. Seuss. Students will be sharing their favorite Dr. Seuss books with our volunteers from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. And of course, no birthday party is complete without refreshments.  To volunteer and be matched with a young reading buddy, call us at 503-288-8303. The event is part of the National Read Across America Day.

The Age of Love movie & Speed Dating in Hollywood

ageoflove_poster_final_whiteJoin us at the Hollywood Theatre, Saturday, Feb. 14, at 1:30 p.m. to watch the documentary “The Age of Love.” The story follows 30 seniors who sign up for a first-of-its kind speed dating event designed exclusively for people 70 to 90 years old. The film takes viewers directly into the lives of older singles who still yearn to be seen, understood and touched, and perhaps find a new chance at love. The movie is a fundraiser for the Hollywood Senior Center and Elders in Action and part of the Age Friendly Portland Initiative.  Tickets are $8 and available at the Hollywood Senior Center, online at hollywoodtheatre.org or at the theatre box office.

Want to attend a speed dating event for seniors following the film? Contact the Hollywood Senior Center at 503-288-8303 for more information. Spots are limited so don’t delay.
