May 7: A Finished Heart–Conversations between a Dying Man and His Husband

HollywA Finished Heartood Senior Center is cohosting Elliott Cherry’s A FINISHED HEART: CONVERSATIONS BETWEEN A DYING MAN AND HIS HUSBAND Sunday, May 7, at 3pm at Portland Abbey Arts (7600 N. Hereford Street, Portland, OR 97203).

The performance will be followed by audience discussion with the author/performer, facilitated by professionals in the fields of caregiving, end-of-life and loss. This production is made possible by a grant from North Portland Neighborhood Services.

April 25 Workshop: Know the 10 Signs of Alzheimer’s Disease

Gain an understanding of the difference between age-related memory loss and Alzheimer’s at this Tuesday, April 25 workshop titled, KNOW THE 10 SIGNS OF ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE. Video footage of real people who are living with dementia and their families address the fears and myths associated with Alzheimer’s Disease. April 22: FREE Swing Fling Concert

Come and enjoy the swinging tunes of the Big Band era on Saturday, April 22, from 11 am to 12 pm, at the Hollywood Senior Center! The NEW HORIZONS BIG BAND, led by the renowned Brad Davis, will play songs and show tune from the 40s, 50s, and 60s. April 21: Riders Club Heads to Oregon Ceramic Show at Convention Center

The Hollywood Senior Center’s RIDERS CLUB will head to the Oregon Potters Association Ceramic Showcase on Friday, April 21. Our Ride Ambassador (thank you, Ride Connection!) will meet participants in our lobby at 9:30am, hand out FREE bus tickets, and accompany the group to the Oregon Convention Center, where the show is held. Whether you’re browsing or shopping, you’ll find many beautiful treasures to enjoy! This is one of the largest ceramic shows in the country. April 19: Get a $5 Gift Card at “What’s with Gambling?” Workshop

Do you have a problem with gambling or know someone who does? Please join Philip Yassenoff and Peter Walsh for an informative discussion on gambling WEDNESDAY, APRIL 19, 10:30AM to NOON. The first half of the session, which is sponsored by Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare and VIEWS, will give participants to share what they know about gambling. The second half of the session the speakers will share what they know about gambling. This workshop is limited to 15 participants, who will receive a $5 gift card for attending.
