The Alzheimer’s Association will offer a class titled “Know the Ten Signs” on Tuesday, June 12, from 1 to 2:30 pm. In this class, attendees will gain an understanding of the difference between age-related memory loss and Alzheimer’s and what to do if they or someone they know has the disease. Calling all baseball fans and super volunteers! The Hollywood Senior Center is excited to partner with Portland Pickles Baseball this summer. We’re looking for volunteers of all ages to volunteer as ushers and 50/50 raffle ticket sellers during home games at Walker Stadium in the Lents neighborhood. Volunteers receive a FREE meal and baseball cap, plus an afternoon/evening out at the ballpark. The Pickles will donate funds back to Hollywood Senior Center through the raffle.
Opening Day is Thursday, May 31, so we need volunteers from Thursday through Sunday, June 3 for the first exciting weekend of the season.

In honor of Older Americans Month, Hollywood Senior Center is hosting a CIVIC ENGAGEMENT RESOURCE FAIR Wednesday, May 30, from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. Fourteen organizations, including Store to Door, Elders in Action, Metropolitan Family Services, Ride Connection, Geezer Gallery, and Meals on Wheels, will staff tables and hand out raffle tickets for fabulous prizes. Pacifica Senior Living will provide the refreshments and Jam Yankees will play tunes we know and love. Stop by and bring your friends and loved ones.
Please join the Portland Police Bureau Strength Programs for a PERSONAL SAFETY WORKSHOP this TUESDAY, MAY 22, 10-11:30am, at the Hollywood Senior Center. The class is designed to help people identify their risks, evaluate their strengths, and explore their options for dealing with the threat of violence.
In this safety workshop, emphasis will be place on:
- identifying prevent strategies if faced with a dangerous situation
- exploring intuition as a safety tool
- understanding and practicing boundary-setting skills
- learning various escape options.
