March 5: “Judy Garland” by Gordon Neal Herman

As Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, Judy Garland endeared herself to the movie going audience by showing us the way “Over the Rainbow.” But her life was far from happy. From her days as a child star to her tragic death, this presentation by Gordon Neal Herman will trace her far-from-fairytale life. March 1: Weekly Mah Jungg Games

 

There’s a new game in town!  And its FREE! Join us at the Hollywood Senior Center Friday, March 1, 1:00-3:30 pm for Mah Jongg, a game of skill, strategy and chance! March 6: Technology Workshop for Seniors

The Portland Youth Builders will lead a 30-minute presentation followed by 20 minutes hands-on activities. The high school students will have laptops on hand and encourage class participants to bring questions. Topics will include: Intro to Smart Phones, Smartphone Settings and Storage, Apps You Can Use (Travel, Library, Movies), Senior Scams, Microsoft Office, Windows 10 and Silhouette Paper Cutter-Pop Up Cards. March 4: Celebrate Read Across America Day

 

Please join us to celebrate National Read Across America Day by supporting young readers on Monday, March 4th from 1:15-2:15pm  Share your love of reading and support a young reader by participating in this inter-generational event at the Hollywood Senior Center. February 26: Music with Andee Joyce

Andee Joyce, aka Normal Fauna, doesn’t sing just about her autism.  She writes catchy rhythms and moves to them (and makes you want to move). She plays percussion instruments, a loop pedal, uke bass, mini electric guitar and hand drum. February 8: Pizza and movie: The Wife

Jean Johnson, Ph.D. in U.S. History and retired educator, is in her third year as a real estate agent and is specially trained to work with seniors. Jean will discuss planning to maintain control and dignity; physical and social safety; downsizing; condos, apartments, aging-in-place at home; and retirement communities and wait lists.
