October 8: Riders Club Trip: Leonard Bernstein Exhibition at Oregon Jewish Museum

Tuesday, October 8, meet the Ride Ambassador at 11am for 12pm tour

Join the Ride Ambassador for a trip to the Oregon Jewish Museum to see the “Leonard Bernstein at 100!” exhibition. This is the first large-scale multimedia museum exhibit to illustrate Bernstein’s life, Jewish identity, and social activism in the context of his position as an American conductor and his works as a composer. Tour is docent-led. Bring a lunch or buy a lunch at Lefty’s Cafe.

Enjoy a short lesson followed by one-on-one assistance from the high school students of Portland Youth Builders. Armenian Cooking Demo with Angele: Knaifa Tuesday, October 1, 3-4pm Free, but need to register.

Armenian chef Angele Mahshigian will teach participants how to make Knaifa, sometimes called Kanafa, which is shredded dough (Kataifi) with walnut or ricotta filling.

Join us for an afternoon of storytelling and song. Entertainer Tony Starlight will share his favorite songs and stories from such great artists as Frank Sinatra, Gene Autry and Neil Diamond. Pianist Matt Tabor will join Tony for an afternoon of music, storytelling, laughter and a pleasant stroll down memory lane.

The 3 top finalists of our inaugural senior talent show will perform. Small bites are included in admission price. We’ll have a no-host bar that include a signature cocktail created specially for this event.

September 23: Falls Prevention Awareness

In honor of National Falls Prevention Awareness Day, the first day of fall, Providence Hospital will present a two-hour workshop that includes: a review of fall risk factors and how to stay healthy on your feet; one-on-one medication reviews with a pharmacist; and an interactive tai chi demonstration. Plus, fall-prevention vendors will table the event so participants can ask questions and/or get information.
