December 8: Visit the U.S. Post Office’s Holiday Postal Booth at Hollywood Senior Center

Bring your holiday mailing and packages ready for shipping to the Hollywood Senior Center, Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016 – from 9:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

NOTE:  Packages must weigh less than 10 pounds and a flat rate will be charged for small, medium and large packages.  Stamps will be available for domestic and international mail. The U.S. Postal booth will take cash or check with a photo identification.

December 2: Preparing for an Earthquake Workshop

emergency-kitLearn what to do in the first two minutes, two days or two weeks after an earthquake. The Office of Emergency Management will tell us what to do to prepare to be self-sufficient for at least two weeks. They will give us tips on assembling our emergency preparedness kit.

How Much Weight Can A Gingerbread Bridge Hold?

gingerbreadRide to the Old Market Pub, 6959 SW Multnomah, Portland, to enjoy the Gingerbread Demolition Contest. Each year architects, engineers and students gather to bake and break a gingerbread bridge.
The teams will be competing against Denver, Colo., teams for the coveted Gingerbread Cup. Architectural judging begins at 3:00 p.m., and actual demolition at 4:00 p.m.

Lawrence stars as Joy Mangano, a self-made millionaire who created the Miracle Mop and became an overnight success. She went on to develop more products, often selling them on the Home Shopping Network and QVC.  (2 hours)

Your voice imgresmatters.  Help shape Aging, Disability and Veterans Serivces.  Topics for discussion include: Outreach/referral, caregiver issues, nutritional services, safety/abuse prevention, health aging and other topics related to veterans’ needs.
