Hollywood Senior Center couldn’t operate without the help of wonderful volunteers who donate their time and talent to serve our community. Whatever your age, interests, or skills, you can find a rewarding volunteer or an internship opportunity with us.

Please note that the majority of our volunteer opportunities are remote at this time.

Special Volunteer Opportunities

Holiday Greetings for Seniors

Volunteer from home to create holiday greetings for seniors! Bring cheer and comfort to seniors in our community through holiday letters, cards, or drawings. These holiday greetings will be delivered to seniors for Thanksgiving and the winter holiday season. Gestures like a handwritten note show compassion and kindness and remind seniors that they are not alone during this time of extreme social distancing. Write a short letter to say Happy Holidays or get creative and make a piece of art or write a poem – it’s up to you! Please note that because cards will be distributed to diverse individuals from varied backgrounds we do ask that holiday greetings are non-denominational.

How to Get Involved: All ages are welcome to participate, and no volunteer application is required. Holiday greetings can be mailed to Hollywood Senior Center or dropped off (weekdays 9 a.m.-4 p.m.) at 1820 NE 40th Ave, Portland, OR 97212.

      • Please send/deliver Thanksgiving greetings by Friday, November 20
      • Please send/deliver Holiday Season greetings by Friday, December 18

If you are a student and need documentation of your volunteer service, please email the Volunteer Program Manager with forms/details at julieann.barowski@hollywoodseniorcenter.org. We generally credit 15 minutes per card or letter.
